Tato Kotetishvili is a Georgian Director and cinematographer born in Tbilisi in 1987. He studied at the Polish National Film School in Łódź (PWSFTViT).
Working between fiction and documentary, his films are shaped by natural light, non-professional performers, and close attention to lived environments.
His debut feature film, Holy Electricity, premiered at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, where it received the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present competition.
The film later screened internationally, including at New Directors/New Films in New York, presented by Museum of Modern Art and Film at Lincoln Center,
as well as at International Film Festival Rotterdam, Göteborg Film Festival, CPH:DOX, New Horizons International Film Festival, and Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
Alongside his filmmaking practice, he collaborates as cinematographer with contemporary artists on moving-image works presented at the 59th Venice Biennale, MoMA PS1, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Noguchi Museum, and Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
